Thank you for coming to the Insight Counseling Associates website. Here is what is behind the name of the clinic and how I approach counseling.
Insight is defined in ancient Hebrew as understanding.
- First, insight is the admission that one has a need, issue, or problem thus indicating a readiness for counseling. A client who comes to treatment with a list of who else has the problem and refuses to take ownership will probably not gain much from the process.
- Second, insight is the process of gaining self-understanding. The self I am referring to is personhood. This aspect of the self is the core of the person inside. It is not self-centeredness, self-absorption, or selfishness.
- Third, insight is the goal of therapy. At the end of therapy clients can expect to know more about their selves, their issues, strengths, weaknesses, and gifts. They will understand what they have tried in the past that has not worked, and will obtain tools to enable them to continue to gain self-awareness and make accurate estimates of strengths and weaknesses.
My job throughout this process is to be the trusted one who walks with the client as he or she addresses the sometime arduous task of self-discovery. I provide the client with a safe, healing relationship. I work from the belief that it is the relationship that heals.
I invite you to make an appointment so you can start examining your life and begin living at a higher, more satisfying, and more fulfilling level.
